Director of Finance

‘Financially well-run, clear financial reporting and strong leadership’.

Not our words but from a recent CIPFA report about Trafford Council.

Now there is a unique opportunity for you to be part of our vision to make sure Trafford remains a place where all our residents, business and communities thrive.

As a Director of Finance, you will be a key member of our Corporate Leadership Team, helping steer the Council’s strategic direction and you will play a major role in helping us to shape our borough. We have been working with partners to transform our town centres, with Altrincham seen as a blueprint for High Street revivals across the UK.

We are now set to launch the next steps of our £4.2bn Trafford Wharfside regeneration, working along Manchester United’s proposed new stadium to regenerate the area and deliver 15,000 new homes and 48,000 new jobs.

Trafford is a real driver for growth in the region, with Trafford Park one of the largest industrial estates in Europe. We play a key role in the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, working with the other metropolitan councils to deliver jobs, infrastructure, services and growth to Greater Manchester.

Our three-year capital programme is more than £300m to invest in infrastructure, regeneration and leisure facilities. This includes redevelopment of our leisure centres, having already delivered a £20m transformation of move Altrincham to deliver first-class facilities for residents with a low-carbon sustainable design. The capital programme also includes our Asset Investment Fund which generates sustainable commercial income to help fund frontline services while delivering social and economic benefits to the borough.

Our £273m revenue budget supports the delivery of vital services, including growing demand across children’s and adult social care. Through our established Finance and Transformational Change Programme, we are driving innovation in service delivery, streamlining processes and using data and digital tools more effectively to deliver financial efficiencies. This allows us to continue to invest in the thing that matters most in our borough – our people.

You will find this role to be an exciting challenge at a Council that is ambitious for its residents, businesses and community. I wish you the best of luck in your application.
